Instructor:
Jean Finley, OTR
Graduated from U of MN, MPLS in 1984 and is trained in adult NDT (Neurodeveelopment/Bobath Technique), master level in MFR (Myofascial Release) and LANA certified CDT (complete decongestive therapy). Jean has a holistic and eclectic viewpoint towards treatment and has been in private practice since 1996. She has had the opportunity to speak frequently in the upper Midwest for the last 20 years.
This is a hands-on, lab intensive workshop to effectively use Myofascial Release techniques to treat the trunk, neck and proximal limbs. It is useful for both orthopedic and neurologic patients.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of the educational course, learners will:
• Learn the concepts of MFR and the body’s response.
• Evaluate the body for fascial restrictions.
• Learn myofascial release techniques on the trunk, neck and proximal limbs to release pain and improve body symmetry.
• Learn to use diaphragmatic breathing and body awareness to facilitate relaxation and more normal movement patterns.
• Be aware of precautions and contraindications of myofascial release.
