An array of home health services are available at additional charges, such as medication administration, diabetes management, bathing assistance and nail care. A nurse conducts an initial assessment to determine the level of assistance needed. Assessments are conducted routinely and the level of care is adjusted as needed.

Services included in rent

• Dinner and breakfast buffet served in the Birchwood Dining Room
• Weekly light housekeeping in individual apartments — bathroom  and kitchen floors cleaned, vacuuming, trash removal, linen change
• Paid utilities, except telephone, Internet and cable
• Daily “I’m okay” checks
• On-site maintenance for apartments and common areas
• Weekly Wellness Clinic for blood pressure check, weight monitoring, consultation with nurse
• Van transportation for scheduled outings and shopping trips
• Free transportation once a month to any location in the St. Paul area (via Lion Mobile)
• Social, educational and recreational programs
• Chapel services
• Scheduled grocery transportation
• Use of common areas (wide-screen TV lounge, fireplace, activity room, coffee area and outdoor courtyard)
• Emergency response system available 24 hours a day via a wireless pendant call system. (There is a minimal charge for each time system is used.)
